Does anyone in the USA really want us to be the primary feet on the ground in the Ukraine while we are still in Afghanistan, Iraq, and South Korea? What additional programs and services will conservatives demand be forfeited while we send more men and women to go toe to toe with another nuclear power overseas? The majority of Americans approve of Obama using diplomacy and sanctions against Russia, they also approve of his desire to make Europe, the continent with the most skin in this game, to take a greater role in the situation. That said, they don’t approve of his overall handling of the situation which is something of an anomaly in itself. It’s as if my neighbors love what I’ve done with my lawn, they think my bushes and trees have been trimmed to perfection, and the flower beds are lovely, however, they don’t think I’m very good at taking care of my yard. Maybe they just don’t like me?that’s an example, not the situation, however, it’s like when people went on the street and asked what people what they thought of the ACA and people thought it was a good idea and hoped it would work. Then they were asked what they thought of Obamacare, and they said they didn’t like it.One thing is for certain… we shouldn’t start a conflict with Russia while we ourselves are so divided among our own neighbors.Respectfully,C.

Why do you think that there is nothing to do short of going to war in Ukraine? If we had a competent President with a competent administrative staff around him (or her) we could have stopped this before the lefties could start wringing their hands and talking about going to war.

Tabloid readers, pfft. If an article isn’t in double-height font and more than 20 words, it’s “wordy”.

I had time. I’ll summarise for you, since you might not understand that longword, ‘delusional’: “it aint happening”

    Oh yeah, almost forgot: “lol”.

This is what I’m talking about when I say 90% of people are idiots. Do you know how many nukes Russia has? Do you think they would hesitate to use them if we struck first? Do you even BEGIN to THINK about consequences of your proposed actions?

My son participated in some very successful NATO actions (still classified) that demonstrated the alliance isn’t nearly as weak as portrayed in the ’toon.

On a more U.S. note, saw a chart showing several things Obama has done “foreign affairs-wise”, and they got over 60% approval by the public, when not linked to Obama, yet he got only 35% approval for his actions as President.

Hmm, over 70% of Americans now realize the invasion of Iraq was stupid, and a disaster, but the “conservatives” still support the morons who led us into it. Yep, interesting indeed.

correctly wrote: “…by your problem, my hopes and concerns to you and your loved ones.”

I hate to point out an inconsistency here, but in the above statement you correctly wrote ‘your’. Twice. Tch, tch, tch.

Wow! A lot of diverse debate here tonight. Just one more thought, to muddy the waters further. If tomorrow, officers in the Cuban Army revolted, ousting the communist/Castro II government, and Putin rushed troops, armor and aircraft there to crush the rebellion, what would our response be?

We have , at last count, 60K troops in Korea, plus troops in Japan, Australia, Japan and shortly back in the Philippines. The Black Sea is one way in, one way out, passing through the Bosporus in Turkey. Think we could get ships in there in a crisis? One saboteur sinking a small ship would bottle us up on both sides, too close for Russian weapons for comfort.Yes, they couldn’t get out, but unless we unleash a Pearl Harbor, they have the upper hand.

Agreed,SWR.However, it costs a lot of money to keep even small numbers of battle ready soldiers in even friendly countries. In countries with a large unfriendly population, such as Iraq, it is even more costly.I try to keep up, and am always grateful to those who fill in the gaps for me or who present information which I didn’t have. In this case, I still feel safe to point out we have resources that are too widely spread out on our “Risk Game” and Ukraine from Irkutsk was never a good defensive point in that game.Mr.Obama had wanted to change his military focus to the Pacific, but Mr. Putin seems to feel ignored and marginalized.Perhaps if the United States was more united at home, the international community would be more reluctant to be twitchy to us and our allies.Respectfully,C.

As those of us who survived the Communist/Russian invasion of the Baltics.. and saw many of our relatives and friends sent to the Gulags.. after WWII.. we have learned never to trust the Russian government.. For those who are knowledgeable of Biblical prophecy…there will be a war that will involve “Gog and Magog”… those who dont know… well, all I can say is.. … Its the old saying from the days of the cold war… “when you see the flash of the bomb.. just bend over and kiss your butt good by.”
