It is sad that the Olympics have become just another target of violence for people who are unable to make their statements without killing innocent people. Unable to make their political points in conventional forums or on battlefields, they attack people who are oft times sympathetic to the causes for which these ‘patriotic’ sociopaths are taking actions. In trying to make their point, they gather a few more supporters among those who are already on their side, but lose many more potential friends among those who sympathize with the victims. What is even worse, in so many cases, these people violate their own religious rules to do these things in the name of the God of Abraham/Abram.Respectfully,C.

All of this fuss is about the youth of the world getting together to compete in their chosen sport. Something has gone terribly wrong. The Olympic ideals cannot survive in this climate of hatred, distrust, and quest for dominance.

Neither ‘side’ is guilt free where the spreading of divisive and tribal prejudices are concerned, “Doctor”. Your own words contribute to such a weakening of our societies civility with your use of insults against those who are your neighbors and countrymen.Sadly,C.

Robert, you are so RIGHT! It is all of Islam that is trying to destroy the world. Check out thereligionofpeace.com and see how many people they murder and injure every month.

    Sorry, David.

Your comments are extremely skewed. Give me a link that shows the ‘vast’ number of people that American Evangelicals have murdered in the last two or three years.

    Can’t find one? I know.

Now, look at this link. You will see that Muslims are killing thousands upon thousands every month. thereligionofpeace.com

“…….Very true. Nor can America survive the similar climate which has been fostered by the left wing nut jobs……”.Are you sure you’re not part of the problem? Tolerance at home would be a good place to start a more humane world.

“Remember also that Islam is still in the Stone Age…”Just a slight correction, if Islam was in the stone age, they would be working with stone, not metals and electronics.

I fear that they will be successful in killing some spectators. It’s impossible to stop every attempt, especially when they are from that area. They blend in and are already in place.

I agree, David. The hypocrisies fueling violence and feelings of being disenfranchised go back to Europe colonizing of the middle east, the USA’s support of such efforts including unseating the democratically elected leader of Iran in the early 50s, and many more examples I think we could both mention. There is a bumpersticker I like that states, “Moslems aren’t the only fundamental religious fanatics” with the moon and star on one side and a cross on the other.Thank you for your well stated reply.Sincerely,C.

“It must be a major embarrassment for Islam in that….they seem to have no athletes…..this cannot be…every people, every nation have some who excel..”

Not following you here…are you’re suggesting those who follow the Islamic religion have no star athletes? If you using satire, I’m missing it.

I’m going to ignore the easy and bloody obvious that everyone might think those of the Islamic faith come from countries who traditionally won’t have “Winter sports” since they’re from balmy weather countries since:a) many countries with winter sports have a Muslim population who do participate in these sportsb) even countries with balmy weather can send athletes to a winter olympics (look up ice-skaters & ice-hockey players from Kenya; ice-hockey players from Somalia)

I don’t have to look far to find a gold medalist who is a Muslim: Mo Farah

So, what are you talking about?

There have also been millions killed in the name of Empire, Socialism, Communism, Democracy, various Kings, Capitalism, and a hundred other ‘isms’. People kill in the name or race and sex. But yet I don’t see you screaming against those. Do you think that inequality comes about from religon? No. It comes about because people with mindsets like yours see others who differ from them…whether in terms of occupation, race, gender, beliefs, or what have you…and degrade them so as to raise themselves up. If you don’t want to believe, don’t believe. But please drop the entire ‘religon is the root of all the world’s evils’. It’s old, tired, and simply not true.

I too though Turkey, first, then just Islam in general. But, more than 1.5 BILLION people, and they aren’t all “terrorists”. Think how kind the Inquisition was. Find the REAL history of ETSEL and LESCHI, in the Zionist movement for some “good guys”, like blowing up school buses with British kids on board.

The problem goes to fanatics who get guidance from especially that “old time religion” in the Old Testament, “the Book of Hate”, and see “justice” in their punishment of those they see as non-observant, thus “infidels” or apostates.

Molon: a little correction: those fundamentalist evangelicals will just carpet bomb your country (if Islamic) and call it “shock and awe”.

I was kidding about Turkey — I knew you were actually accusing all Muslims of being terrorists. Just like all black people are thugs, all Asians are good at math, all Jews … well, you get it. I just have trouble with reconciling your view of Islam with the very kind, peaceful, gentle Muslims I happen to know personally. And the fact that, if you had drawn such a sweeping indictment of any other religious, ethnic or racial group, you’d be headlined for bigotry.

Come on! Canada hogged all the Gold last olympic games and I want to see it happen again!

We,re sharing a North Pole, so I think Canada is bound to have a tiff with Russia some time…if that ever happen, may I remind that the name of that two-bit dictator in Moscow is fast food in Montreal?

(Putin really translates to Poutine in french! I’ll leave you a moment to imagine all the fun comedians are having with this here!)
