Hey now Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Comic fans! Here’s one I hope you like! I feel pretty good about it if I do say so. But then I’ll laugh at pretty much anything these days as some of you have noticed ha ha.
Terrorists kidnap two Czechs, two Irishmen, two Englishmen, and two Americans. A ransom note is sent to each respective countries’ embassy, demanding the equivalent of $25 million or they will kill the hostages. After two weeks, they receive responses from each embassy. The English, Irish, and American embassy all state that they do not negotiate with terrorists. The Czech embassy states that the money is on it’s way. After another two weeks, the terrorists have had enough of waiting. They take the hostages into a helicopter, bound and blindfolded. The terrorists throw each pair of hostages out of the helicopter. Only one pair survived. After another two weeks, the terrorists find themselves under attack by each countries anti-terror forces. There’s an exchange of gunfire but, miraculously, the terrorists are captured without any loss of life. “But how did you find us?! We killed all of your men!” one terrorist whined.“No, you didn’t.” said one of the Czech hostages.“And you didn’t get a thing from us! Everyone around the world knows two things: One, that nowadays you should always use a wire transfer, and, two, never rely on gravity. The Czechs often bounce.”

The gloves were easier to draw than hands, yet they still couldn’t manage to draw five fingers. Or pants for Donald and Porky.
the gloves also gave better contrast on black+white
Whether it’s gloves, or even mittens, they’re just a good thing to have on-hand.
Strollers have gone through many iterations, along with styles of dress for the children and parents. Saw a stream-lined stripped down version carrying two small children, who watched the world pass while their very athletic mom provided the motive power. She pointed out the sights as she jogged, unlike so many who waste their valuable bonding times talking on cells.
Why would gloves be easier to draw than fingers? They are the same basic shape. Wonder if instead, they did it as added decoration or to color coordinate.
How is it everyone seems to accept that fiddler crabs aren’t actually playing music?
Stradivarious is as Stradivarious does.
Take care, may recovering Holland dairy deliveryman Hans “Pull My Finger Anyway” Sheetord be with you, and gesundheit.
Thanks for the memories. I saw the carriage and pulled out an old photo album of my Grandmother’s family. And, yes, there is a photo of her in her goat pulled carriage. Also one with her Pitbull nanny. She was born in 1899.
So William Kent used “bicycle wheels” on his carriage a hundred years before they were invented? lol Clever guy.
Those kids and their fancy strollers. They’ll never get any exercise now. Lazy twits.
Absolutely SHOCKING, I tell you. Not.
“They are not kid gloves Valiant.”
just imagine: the sousaphonist crab
I wonder if that’s how governesses came to be called “nannies”…?
The cartoon one made me think of something that bothered me about some of the early cartoons. When the characters are just standing, they aren’t just standing, they’re bobbing up and down, as though in time with music or something. So, I just looked it up and apparently it’s mainly to keep things “animated”, so the audience is always getting something “moving”…
Have you ever noticed that cartoon or comic book characters have 4 fingers only, and no thumbs?
Are all fiddler crabs left handed? (Clawed)?
Here’s another I choose NOT to believe, as gloves and hands are exactly the same shape.
Not just Disney; look at Bugs Bunny. And yet cartoon animals are also more likely than humans to go unshod.
Question for Stephen G: Did Donald Duck, his kids, or Scrooge McDuck wear pants? Seems I’ve seen that asked and discussed long ago but I’ve no idea what was determined. The way they were drawn left nothing to cover up did it?
Also easier to draw 4 fingers instead of 5…
I was waiting for some kind of “Czechs in the mail…” punchline.
And shoes instead of feet?
