No, she won’t go past you. She’ll go through you.

That first panel summarizes everything that is wrong with this once-upon-a-time-a-good-and-fun strip. By now Dick Tracy might qualify as a better read. And that is saying something.

Scott Adams said that when you draw a comic strip your bosses are your readers.

This reader has re-read a bunch of episodes from the origins of the Rip Haywire strip and the primary thing that the best strips of that era had in common was the banter between Rip and TNT.

Who else would like to see the strip more focused on Rip and TNT cracking jokes than on Rip soloing on boring story lines where he inexplicably looks fat in a trench coat, or briefly links up with a never to be seen again babe while he takes on a never to be seen again monster?

Rip wants his capers to be dangerous, but to the readers they should also be humorous, or else the are just “Borr-ing!”

Methinks that Dan T has been focusing too hard on the dangerous aspect of the strip while ignoring the humorous aspect.

Methinks also that readers are starting to notice that the strip is not as fun as it once was.

Think of it this way: it used to be that you could check in on Rip Haywire every day and get three or four chuckles or laughs each week.

Now you check in on Rip Haywire for weeks on end with no chuckles or laughs and instead follow some pointless adventure to the end.

For example, I’ve already forgotten how the recent Rip as “Fat Dick Tracy” sequence got resolved, nor do I care. On the other hand I can remember and repeat to my friends some wise cracks made in the strip years ago.

I’m loving this story line! Action, intrigue and Cobra. Keep up the good work Dan.

I love anything with Cobra! Never had much use for Breezy & baby story lines!

Remember that outlawed cousin of Breezy that wanted to put her off a few months back… perhaps it’s her? >=)

There would have to be a very good reason for Breezy to go evil. Dutch isn’t an unquestionable fount of truth; if I were RJ I’d verify his claims before doing anything.

Hit the “Unfollow” button snd get on with your life. It’s just a comic strip.

Hopefully this is not a “OH NO, CAPTAIN AMERICA WAS A HYDRA AGENT ALL THIS TIME!” scenario. (That got retconned later though.)Still, it would suck. I realize the author wants to shake things up from time to time but this emotional rollercoaster moment might send us off the rails. Still, its the author’s work. He’s been at it for quite some time and apparently doing something right. King of camp. I think we might be moving out of the camp genre now though.

I have to agree with the others here. If Dan has Breezy stabbing Rip in the back, I’m through with this strip.

I really liked Breezy – beautiful babe with honor and integrity. Cobra is a beautiful babe who can’t be trusted from here to breakfast., pancakes or otherwise. UNLESS, Cobra has had a change of heart, maybe? (Hey, it could happen.) But I hope Breezy hasn’t turned evil. That would be awful. Wouldn’t it, Dan?!

I’ve missed Cobra! I’m glad She’s back. You have to admit, she was always honest about stabbing Rib in the back, Breezy has not always been honest.

I always preferred Cobra anyway; they belong together.

I still say Breezy is being framed. Jenkins wants to get rid of Rip and have Breezy for himself again. Since he can’t overpower Rip, Jenkins is setting Breezy up to create marital tension. Rip will want nothing more to do with Breezy, leaving her alone and vulnerable, and ready to be snatched up by Jenkins whether she likes it or not.

    It’s as simple as that.
