Heiliger Hügel in SE Wisconsin built an elevator a couple of generations ago so that the faithful could visit the holy fane on the hill without risk of bodily harm. At the bottom end of the elevator shaft there’s a collection box, for contributions to pay for the cost of installing the elevator. That expense was paid off long ago, of course, but the collection box remains, with a sign saying “No Coins Please”.
