Don’t diss poor Clive! I once tried to eat the wax base of my chicken liver pâté in a fancy restaurant. To compound the humiliation, the governor of my state was sitting at the next table…

Once again, Clay Bennett tells the whole story with concision and humor — he’s still the best editorial cartoonist today for my money!

Sometimes Dan Thompson swings and misses; sometimes he hits a home run. I would definitely put this in the latter category!

I’m more convinced than ever that Jimmy Johnson has a spy camera and microphone hidden somewhere in our apartment….

I accept all friendly amendments! Perhaps I should have said “…some of his characters.”

One of the best parts of Bill Hinds’s work: his characters look like real people!

Clay Bennett proves it again: he is the best editorial cartoonist ever!

Electoral College votes for each state are equal to the total of U.S. Representatives and Senators for that state. Giving small states those two extra votes for their Senators means that voters in small-population states have more impact on the result than those in more populous states. So, e.g., a single popular voter in Wyoming has more influence over who’s elected president than seven California voters. And voters who chose the loser of the popular vote in each state have no effective vote at all. So in real life the most powerful presidential voters of all are the voters in the largest towns of a the small states. They’re the ones who gave Donald Trump the presidency in 2016. All in all, that makes for very strange results in some presidential elections.

I always spent 90 minutes explaining the Electoral College to my community college American Government students, but subsequent quizzes showed that most of them still didn’t understand it.

I’m with Arlo — while it never got much airplay, “He Went to Paris” is far and away Buffett’s best song. Then again, I also like “Jolly Mon Sing”!
