   Wow, there’s a whopper. Right along the lines of “We can’t afford to spend 1/2 of 1% of our GDP on welfare” all the while we’re spending 65 times that much on the military. That dog don’t hunt. We can “afford” what ever we decide we can afford.

   And thank G_d for that! What value has religion in today’s society where every huckster and shyster twists and perverts it for material gain? There are no honest, thoughtful proponents of mystical god-bothering today. The whole concept is morally bankrupt.

   That guy is a fucking idiot. He is decidedly Not Funny (which is typical for your average conservative pundit – and he’s very average) . And only a barely adequate draftsman. It’s a testament to the the assertion that the print media is a dying: media targeted at old, white people, that that particular comic even exists today. This kind of stupid, willfully ignorant reactionary bullshit shows up regularly on the editorial cartoon page of my local daily. It’s horrifically embarrassing, even if the journalists on that paper are trying to keep the local news current are actually pretty aware and clear-thinking.
