   Alas, working at a nail salon requires a license which I believe means about a year of training. Most states have licenses required for nail salons just like barbers and beauty salons, etc.

   it is my understanding that minimal requirements for a counselor or therapist credential is a master’s degree in psychology or social work and many hours of supervised counseling. Many colleges and universities don’t start the psych classes until at least the sophomore year. Of course programs could have changed since I jumped through the hoops. The LCDC program is an exception – only 2 years training required.

   “Children learn what they live.” Dorothy Law Nolte. Children can learn order and systems at a very early age. That is the first thing they learn in a Montessori school — to be responsible for their space and to complete their tasks, i.e., manage their time. Also, I suspect there is a neatness gene in the DNA that makes some people orderly. Also, quite often Virgo children are extreme in their need for order – or they may be totally opposite. I totally agree that ALL children benefit from living in an orderly, well managed home with fairly regular predictable schedules. Don’t we all feel more comfortable when we know what to expect? At least most of the time ?

   I ’ve done that — more than once. One time it fell out of my coat pocket in a taxi coming home from the airport. When I reclaimed the phone, they showed me a whole collection of them that people had left in cabs.

   In my younger years my hair was dark chestnut brown. My hairdresser discovered that when I dyed it golden blonde, it turned out a lovely Titian without adding red tones. Go figure. being a redhead is even more fun than blonde.

   A few years back I decided to break with the fruitcake tradition and make a steamed figgy pudding. I ’d never seen one, much less tasted one, but it turned out great. One of my guests was from London and she assured me this was authentic. I recommend it for a change.

   HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all. I chose Mayflower for my ID soon after I learned my 12th great grandfather Peregrine White was born on the ship the day after they arrived in Plymouth Bay. I have speculated that the kind of family relationship challenges that we are seeing in the Tiff, Les, Tom, Ann, Gunther, etc were probably similar to some of the motives for those first settlers on the Mayflower and also earlier in Jamestown to prompt them to leave home and sail across the ocean to the wilds of North America.

   As I enjoy the traditional feast, I give thanks for the many people who contribute too this media and share insights about Luann and her friends. Hope you are each warm and happy and enjoying a nap after over stuffing on the feast.

    I speculated on that idea yesterday and have not read anything to change my mind. I think you are right.
