The psst would indicate spray, but I would never have put it past Cho to have a woman use the other kind on Dean. Or both, he’d probably deserve it.
Note, they didn’t say it was America’s computer capitol, but it is a major tech center. Maybe you’ve heard of Microsoft? Or Amazon? And those are just the tip of the iceberg. Boeing isn’t headquartered in Seattle any more but still has more employees there than any place else, plenty of STEM jobs there. And then there’s a ton of smaller specialized companies most people have never heard of.
That’s a fairly common viewpoint and flat out contradicted by actually reading movie reviews. There are definitely some pretentious knobs in movie reviewing, but those write for things like The New Yorker and the average viewer has never encountered or heard of them (which chafes them to no end). In fact, most reviewers are relentlessly middlebrow but do tend to knock on the average movie somewhat because when you watch 100 movies or more a year, you’ve seen it all before.
As for filth, smut and horrid language, well, I suppose that’s in the eye of the viewer. Most critics dislike G rated movies, not because they are clean, but because they tend to be squarely aimed at 5-6 year old kids and are blandly tedious and predictable to anyone else. Manage one that isn’t (a rare but possible feat) and they WILL notice.
I mean, Star Wars IS kind of a junkyard of cinematic gimmicks. That’s half the charm. Lucas threw in a ton of nods to classic adventure movies but he did it deliberately and with care, not because he didn’t know any better.
Oh I know, believe me, I know. The only winters that I didn’t spend in NEO were in MN (except 2 in VA, but even then, it was the Valley and snow was reasonably common). The Michigan specific reference was only due to that being where Frazz is supposedly set (and where I THOUGHT Mallett was from, but now I’m wondering).
If they live in Michigan and her dad doesn’t like to take chances, why in gods name is he taking the snowbrush out of the car at the BEGINNING of April?!?!? Until I saw her line, I totally read this as Frazz being surprised he didn’t wait for May.
I’m not sure that’s ALL of them, but it does seem to cover the majority.
Cat’s are nature’s “You WILL get up at 3AM to feed me or else.”
Yeah, but why specifically bike shorts? Why not pick on the far more common yoga pants/etc which are in my experience FAR more likely to be worn in public by people who REALLY shouldn’t?
Oh I know why we wear them (waiting on a new pair for this years riding season at the moment), what I don’t get is why people hate them so much, they’re no worse than half the stuff people wear on a daily basis.
