After my military retirement I went to Saudi Arabia to work for a US corporation and my wife accompanied me. She taught at the US International School but was not allowed to cash her payroll checks at any place other than a “female certified” bank. I had to cash her checks at a “normal” bank in Riyadh. That was absolutely absurd. If the Saudis are moving into the modern world, it is to be celebrated.
