A true descendant of Torquemada!
The rich, my dear BWR, pay very little in the way of taxes-probably on their alcohol and tobacco. If you go to the NY Times Website, there is an excellent article by David Leonardt, with great graphs, that clearly illustrates how the rich pay less taxes than the rest of us. Warren Buffett famously observed that his secretary was on a higher tax rate than him and this has now become the norm. Why do you imagine that universal health care=low quality? That certainly is not the case in Canada or Australia, two countries I know well. IF adequate funding is provided it is a vastly cheaper way-you can google the cost of health care internationally if you are interested in the facts, which are that Americans pay a LOT more so that some people are insured than all the other developed countries pay to have ALL the people covered.
I think he would be Brahms and Liszt legless in the first hour, and passed out on the floor before the shift was half over!
I think that when you hit the bottom, education would be the last thing going through you mind. Maybe you anal sphincter!
Yes, he was. Part of his religious upbringing I suppose, liberating people from the workaday word.
We have a former Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott (known as The Mad Monk, a former catholic seminary student) who stated baldly that we old people had had our day and should be prepared to die a horrible death (I added the horrible part) for the good of the economy and future generations. As an oldie I demur, I would like to live a good while longer and go out gently.
Sure he is, but …………………can he make buttocks fly?
Ignore him Bob, he’s just a lying dickhead. I could say more, but you get the picture.
It is sad that the Trumpsters have so terrified the Republican regulars that even an old, rich man like Romney, not planning to run again, is whipped into line.
The rich will never go for that BWR, people like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett etc etc pay zilch, nada, SFA. They only incur taxes when they sell their shares, and why would they do that? It’s not like they need the money, is it?And those private insurance companies are past masters at the good ol’ ‘cream and dump’- sell plenty policies to the young and fit and exclude any and all of the conditions that old geezers like me are afflicted with. What health insurance company would sell insurance to a 79 year old with 5 coronary stents and 3 more in his left leg, plus high blood pressure, etc. The answer is…………NONE!!But in advanced western nations this is not a problem, we have universal medicare. And EVERYBODY (presumably barring the insurance companies) loves it!
