Since nobody else has asked yet, replaced with what, exactly?

Are they going to breach their suits and go full monster and hope they take a few anthros with them? Doesn’t seem plausible; they can’t claim the remains of the planet that way.

Upload/install themselves into incorruptible bodies e.g. cybermen? That’s within the bounds of the tech we’ve seen in the story.

I suppose I’ll have to keep reading and see.

I’m guessing that the case contained an IPU. Long may she reign.

Chic is safely returned home, all thanks to McGruff the crime dog!

Yes, but they’re too inexperienced to understand.

So now it’s clear that the wolf wasn’t telling the whole truth. The rats may or may not be hunting all wolves, but they’re certainly hunting this one.

Walt was right, either by reason or instinct, not to trust him under these circumstances.

We don’t know for sure that the wolf was innocent. His story is plausible but the details are sketchy. Walt isn’t insane, so he didn’t go into a rage, but he’s not going to take the wolf at his word either, under the circumstances.

That’s more wisdom than I can recall seeing from anyone in Endtown for a while now. Kudos to Mr. Neathery for the thoughtful writing!

It would be the deepest of ironies if Fenrick were to be rescued by a horse that decides to intervene rather than leave him to the self-destructive fate he seems to have resigned himself to. Even moreso if it were somehow Heather that did it.
