Aldi is in two parts, each controlled by one of two brothers, now deceased. It is a huge grocery chain in Europe as well as England and now in the US where it is expanding in the south east
Well, I read both of your comments plus the original and am capable of recognizing context and your implied superiority and insults – - this reply also risks being a personal insult, if taken as such, I apologize. I do not know you and would not intentionally insult. Your statement of “being here as long as some of us have” spurred my first reply — “as long as some of us” implies some feeling of superiority and implies personal insult to someone you do not even know.
I am glad that your experience and success was due to intellectual stimulus from comic strips, whatever works, right? No insult intended. I already told you that I have read comics for many years – - on two continents and several languages. In fact, I learned to speak English, in part from American comics. My “success,” apparently limited, lacking “depth” and not of your apparently superior “world,” has not been unsatisfactory nor lacking depth and enlightenment.
I still think comics are entertainment (just look at the frequent factual errors and references in multiple strips) and I would agree that comics have a purpose, especially when used as a tool in public addresses or in the classroom. I would not include them in my footnotes or a bibliography. So, this thread is over. Thank you for the diversion.
I have been reading comics daily since 1948 – - – for laughs and entertainment, not for a way of life or intellectual enlightenment. My life has been successful despite that, hope yours has as well.
No “pits” on a coral snake, no antivenin supplies either. This is a serious snake, fortunately reclusive but …… AVOID and warn the kids before letting them jump in piles of leaves or brush!
The whole country is a joke now, why should the “comics” be any different?
