Brilliant! This wins the internet for today.

My kid who works in High Point said the same.

This is a matter of debate. Merriam Webster says “often capitalized,” but doesn’t specify a rule to follow. AP Style (which governs newspapers and so arguably applies to comics that run in them) says “moon” is always lowercase. The MLA handbook says it is capitalized only when not preceded by “the.” NASA’s style guide says it should always be capitalized. Since there’s no single, clear rule for getting it right, it’s impossible to get it wrong, unless you are obligated to write according to a specific style guide.

    Well, that didn’t age well.

I’m so sorry you went through this heartache and also had to face insensitive comments.

The well-meaning comments can be the worst, because we are supposed to understand the intent and not be mad about them — even when they are maddening!

I’m not Catholic so am curious what was being offered in Catholic churches (not on Zoom) when regular mass wasn’t possible during the early part of the pandemic. Would love to hear about this.

Oof. I hope your take on cell phones while driving has changed since whenever this ran. The dangers got so much worse with texting and video calls. And now it’s so much easier to use hands-free methods for cell phones (which at least in Mass. are legal).

Only city-dwellers? Genuinely curious about where it isn’t true. (I live in a small city that is more like a town, in a rural area in the northeast and it’s true here, too.)
