   A French Curve is an ancient drafting tool to draw smooth arbitrary curves. I started my career as a draftsman in the ’60s, so that makes me ancient too. I ended up as a CAD tool programmer/developer. CAD tools use various forms of mathematical spline curves to supplant what french curves were used for.
