I think I’ve read almost every comic strip that Aaron Neathery has printed and Marx has ALWAYS been evasive and abrasive. He was originally created as an homage or tribute to the screwball comedies and comedians of the 1920s/30s, which would probably explain his baggy pants suit and (rather recent) use of Yiddish slang phrases.
A lot of people forget that Bladerunner was a box-office bomb when it came out, and the cut that was originally in theaters had a lot of problems. It’s very likely that Breathed had never seen the movie or seen it and not liked it at this point.
