Meanwhile, our part of the world is under weather warning for unseasonable heat. We’ve been breaking summer heat records most years for the last decade, as well as winter rainfall records. But hey, it must be a hoax, because people with a vested interest in not changing anything have the money to say so.

Last lines: “Cats should be revaccinated 1 yr later, and triennially or less frequently thereafter, although some manufacturers continue to recommend annual revaccination.”

FVRCP (a.k.a. feline distemper or feline panleuko) vaccine booster shot is recommended as a booster shot every 3 years for indoor cats, every year for outdoor cats, or as recommended by your vet. https://www.merckvetmanual.com/generalized-conditions/feline-panleukopenia/overview-of-feline-panleukopenia

I think you mean “rich enough”, Connie and others trying to defend the American system. Oh, and be subject to arbitrary cut-off for “pre-existing conditions” or any number of other reasons that a private corporate might decide, not for any medical reasons decided by professionals but strictly to maximize their profits, that you should die or go bankrupt. In countries with public healthcare that kind of shit doesn’t happen.

You’re so ignorant I doubt anything anyone says will get through to you. You’re SO wrong on so many levels I hardly know where to start. Actually, I won’t, other than to say that even a cursory glance at relative salary levels proves you to be completely and utterly wrong.

I dunno, most newspapers these days are just uncritical propaganda pieces. Not sure if having one delivered is a good thing.

“marginalize the Christian aspect”? Please tell me you didn’t just go there?

You mean the “go to church and pray” part? Because that’s the original, and only, “tradition”.

Just about everything ELSE that most associate with “Christmas” today, from the gift giving, lights, tree, carolling, stockings on the fireplace, and all the foofarah was blatantly stolen from other religions at one time or another to make “Christianity” more palatable to the pagans they were trying to convert. Even the DATE was picked because it matched existing pre-Christian solstice celebrations rather than any actual birth date.

So please, celebrate Christ if you want to, when you want to, I’ve got no problem with that. But please don’t pretend that Christians are being “marginalized” by OTHERS when they’re the dominant religion in this part of the world, and they’re the ones busy adding non-Christian traditions to their own holiday.

@MaxStarmanJones – so it’s OK for someone to try to shame anyone non-Christian who knows the history of where many of these “rituals” came from, but it’s not OK for someone to call them on it.

    Bah humbug.

Since atheism is simply a lack of belief in any supernatural deities, some atheists can be religious. For instance, many Buddhists would be considered “atheists” but they certainly have religion. However, many atheists are most certainly not religious, and to claim otherwise is to not have any comprehension of what atheism is. Or to just be deliberately contentious…

The whole “midwinter” thing is part of just about every religion. Diwali, Eid-al-Adha, Yule, Christmas or Hanukkah, it seems that a lot of people just like to have a few extra lights and some extra food as the days get colder and sometimes shorter.
