Reminds me of the Monty Python sketch “Michelangelo and the Pope”. “No kangaroos, no mariachi bands, no trampolines …!”

I love the Kliban cats. I had a set of coasters (unfortunately lost several during my last move) and mugs. Favourites were “cat wants”. Cat on one side of screen door: Cat wants out. Next panel: Cat wants in.

Kliban was obviously owned by felines. (“Cat wants people food”)

    Addendum:

And here’s one of the saddest results of Ceauşescu’s decrees:

Mr. Trudeau is one of the best satirists around today.

I’d like to know what the Anti-Choice league thinks would happen if abortion were outlawed. Would everything suddenly be peaches and cream and everyone would walk off into the pink sunset holding hands? No more unwanted kids? No more poverty; no more rape, incest or life-threatening complications?

    Sadly, I don’t think so.

And would these so-called “Christians” be willing to put their time and money where their collective mouths are? Would they pay more taxes to support these children? Would they open up their churches during the week to act as free daycare centres, open to everyone, regardless of race or religion?

    What about it, guys/gals?

And for a look at what happens when you outlaw both contraception and abortions, I suggest you look up Romania under this guy:

I’m an artist and a writer. Someday I hope to be able to say I’m a professional writer. I write and draw what ideas come to me; to do otherwise would be untrue to myself.

As far as I’m concerned, “Star Wars” is the property of the artist. I agree with Neil Gaiman; he said that no one — NO ONE — tells him what to write and no one should tell Mr. Lucas what to do with his creations.

The same goes for the artist/writer of this strip. Heart and Dean have always struck me as being somewhat precocious so I don’t find Dean’s dislike of TPM jarring.

Personally, I didn’t care for the first 2 prequels, simply because I felt that Mr. Lucas forgot the mythic elements that made the original movies so compelling. But that’s my own opinion and I don’t expect anyone else to agree (or disagree, for that matter). Nor am I invested in changing anyone else’s opinion.

My only complaint about the rework of the movies is that I’m not sure if I’m going senile or not. I could have sworn that in the original “Empire” that Luke says to R2D2 (after the ‘bot is spit up by the big fishie on Dagobah) "You’re lucky you don’t taste good" and last time I saw “Empire” (my favourite of all the films) he says something else entirely. Sigh…

Sympathy and condolences, Mark. I totally understand and empathize. A cat (or dog) is not a pet; they are members of the family. I’ve lost 3 of my own: Pippin, Punkin and Loki. My folks and my brother have lost fur-friends as well. Each was a unique individual, a small life and a big soul that was and is keenly missed. To grieve is no shame; there would be something seriously amiss if you did not. The human heart is large enough to love our small, furry friends too.

“Invest in some testicular fortitude next time.”

No to kitty killers, cartoon or otherwise.

I don’t care what the trolls say. I only wish this sort of thing could happen in real life. Then my Loki-cat might still be here. sniffBut poor Spock the dog. His owner is in for a world of sad. (Moment of silence for poor sick doggie)

Lost my Loki-cat not that long ago. PLEASE DO NOT KILL SPOCK!! Loki was black like Spock, too. DON’T KILL SPOCK!! Cartoon cats should be ageless and immortal. If Garfield can live forever on a lasagna diet, then DON’T KILL SPOCK.
