Can’t disagree with any of that especially the music aspect except most of those past events had global effect and there similar localized challenges in each of those decade.

every generation looks at past ones with rose colored glasses. 40 years ago was the early 80s with tech exploding with mini computers, the semiconductor revolution and PCs. great times if you were an early tech person. Explosive growth of companies like HP, DEC, Tandem, Silicon Graphics and yes the emergence of the Internet and worldwide web. But, we also had hyper inflation with 19% interest on home loans and sadly more bad music, except for jazz). The 70s pretty much continued the 60s with the draft and dissidence with campus unrest and increased racial tensions. Started to see new tech emerging as a potential force to come with micro computers. And sadly the emergence of disco. plus challenging employment and depressed wages (no hamburger flippers we’re buying new homes). Maybe you’re thinking the 60s, great music but then we had the start of the Vietnam war, the draft, daily threat of Nuclear war, race riots, etc. don’t get me started on the 50s or 40s.

Hate to be bearer of reality. Boomers and millennials are not really any different than previous generations. Older generations always complained that younger generations were the end of civilization and younger generations always complained the older ones were lame and didn’t understand the “new” world. Boomers, you’ve become your parents and millennials will soon. Neither of you are anything special.
