I don’t understand why those, who hate this strip so much, keep reading it and complaining about how awful it is. I read the strip for an entertaining diversion. After all, it is a fantasy.

The complainers are your typical squeaky wheels. Always making noise. david42 has been doing this for years on this strip. As far as the comment from nightgaunt regarding ham-fisted strip writing by the Benders and wanting the quality of Alley Oop from years gone by, could you please direct us all to some old archives that were so vastly better than the present strip. One more point, which I already know will fall on deaf ears. This strip is what it is today with a change in writers. It’s not going to go back to Dave Graue, because he’s gone. Get it? If you don’t like the present strip, leave and find a better one. Geez!

At least you can’t blame the pea-brains for re-electing the disaster that befalls this country. The liberals are too busy dancing to pay any attention to the corrupt downward economic spiral we’re allowing to happen.

davidf42,Positive commentary makes this a better strip. Obviously, the majority of the posters here are being entertained.

Yeh. Whiners like pibgorn are everywhere. Never happy with anything, that’s why they don’t just go away. They need something to complain about. Good to see so many loyal supporters who aren’t here to trash the strip. I’ve always enjoyed it and it’s just as good as it ever was. The only thing that’s changed are some of the readers who probably would have submitted compaints 50 years ago if they had a link up to the strip. 3 cheers for the Benders! They’re the only reason Alley is alive and kicking today.

Ashburn Stadium, I missed your comment as I was writing mine. My statements about TV and Hollywood were in no way related to your cartoon reference. I saw that cartoon and also enjoyed it very much. Cheers!

To me, this strip is so much more entertaining than the garbage we’re offered on television. How long has Alley Oop and Lil Abner been around compared to all of the short lived offerings from Hollywood? The only thing that would stop me from reading them is if they tried to turn it into a political platform. Three cheers for the Benders for being true to original strip!

McMillan, Notta, David53, BeenThere, I’m with you guys. These commentors sure love to hear themselves complain. I mentioned this a short time ago and was chastised for getting personal with the critics who were doing the rest of the readers a service by trying to improve the strip. I’m happy to see I’m not the only one who see them as detractors. This is a comic strip, for crying out loud. Light, fantasy, getaway reading to take your mind off of the balance of the daily grind. Personally, I’d prefer the comment section to be hidden with only the strip itself on daily display. Thanks to the others here who feel as I do.

I do enjoy this strip. When I signed on back in September, the majority of the comments being posted were mostly negative feedback and being repeated daily. I don’t know if my input helped or not, but right now I’m looking at 13 positive and/or speculative comments. I believe comments should add to the entertainment provided by the strip, which is exactly what the ones on this page are providing. I also appreciate the fact that what I said got a response. Some of you want the Benders to improve the strip. I was trying to improve the comment section. I’m done now.

Night-Gaunt,This strip is already putting up what you seem to be asking from me. I’m not here to do that. It’s Alley Oop and always has been. Comic strips aren’t supposed to be deep, profound material. They’re light entertainment and that’s exacly why I read them. What I don’t get is why people would visit this strip and then feel compelled to point out all of its inaccuracies and ways that it could be so much more realistic. I’m certain, if the strip lived up to every single expectation of most of the commenters, they would still find something to complain about. Sorry for being so lame, but I enjoy Alley Oop, just the way it is and always has been. Too bad everyone can’t come away with a positive experience, regardless of how small it may be. Why read the strip at all if it’s so far beneath their standards of excellence? And why comment with the same complaints day after day after day? How sad to be so unhappy.
