Raising the bar on weird... and pole-vaulting right over it...
I’d been invested in this all week, hoping her father wouldn’t flake out. Tiffany did not deserve this. :(
Every time I see these two, I’m reminded of Felix and Oscar from “The Odd Couple”.
I’d rather see Luann interacting with Dez and/or Pru instead of Bernice. Friends do outgrow each other, and it sounds like this friendship needs to end. Bernice needs to go the way Delta did – someplace else and hardly in the strip any more. Friends should be supportive… what I’ve seen from Bernice in recent years doesn’t come close. A wet paper towel has better support..
Hiya Brad – I’m not AS-born… my parents are from there. I was born here in the US. But yeah.. I’ve had some interesting experiences with that – a lot of folks assume that I’m not from here, even with me speaking clear English and no trace of an accent. I’ve been told that I’m not American, since my parents aren’t.. which… the “American” part of American Samoa seems to be lost on them. lol
Ringo: Ok. I was curious – it’s not often I see anyone referred to as Samoan (by sight alone), especially a comic character. To look at me, you’d know immediately that I’m at least of Polynesian stock – but thanks to a few worldwide events like 9/11, I’ve been mistaken for other ethnicities – mostly Middle Eastern. If I’d been back in San Diego, I’m sure that wouldn’t have been too much of an issue, but I live in the South, and… it’s been interesting. It’s a surprise – and a delight – to me when Polynesians in general are recognized at all, since it’s so rare. Anyway – thanks for responding, I know this topic has been a bit contentious. I appreciate it. :)
Ringo: What gives you the idea that Dez is Samoan? (I’m a Samoan female, asking.)
I think of Tiffany being the same way. I’d like to think that these kids (now adults) have grown and matured, or at least are getting there. They’re all case studies of a different – and multifaceted – sort. What has kept me reading all these years is that no one is really “good”, and no one is really “bad”. Thanks Wizardgoat, very well said. :)
Namrepus… thank you for the laugh, I sure needed that. lol
Haven’t seen Knute and Crystal in ages. (One of the posts brought them to mind.) Hope they make an appearance sometime – that’s a couple that’s definitely interesting.
Out of all the teens in this comic, Crystal and Delta seems to be the most well-grounded. Wish there were more strips with them in it – but I know the current storylines don’t exactly have room for them. Still, it’s nice to wish. :)
That is just too cute. And a fantastic, if quirky, idea for a party!
