Real or fiction, athletes & shoe company’s get rich based on the almost slave-like wages received by the kids who make these over-priced, highly hyped SHOES. But it’s buy them, or some other 3rd World product, or go bare foot. Where can one buy American made shoes? What American would work for three times the wages those 3rd world country kids earn?

Some of the newer congregations of the 20’s – 40’s age group have shoe boxes on prayer tables around the sanctuary/worship room & that is where & how the service is ended, in prayer with the opportunity to give, or not to give, as one is led.

The Jacksonville, IL. paper didn’t run this story line either, which is ironic because they promote themselves as being the voice of the Lincoln-Douglas area. Two politicians who were famous debaters. The story line they ran was funny, true, and also a commentary on our times, and ANY newspaper editor has the right to decide what does or does not go into the paper. That’s in the 1st Amendment too. GT has the right to deal with any subject he wants, but that doesn’t guarantee that his papers have to run it. I am shocked & sadde ed at the amount of hatred & intolerance heard from both sides of this argument. I’m sure lots of Republicans have had abortions, & lots of Democrats oppose it. But Lincoln & Douglas remained friends even though they never agreed on slavery. Why do we villify those with whom we have disagreements? I’m reminded of a Rodney King quote here.

@JanCinLV, oops, you forget, this is a comic strip. Do you critique the way the time machine works too?

  9. about 8 years ago on Alley Oop

I like the way the strip is moving. I always liked the time travel part better,, but things can get exciting in Moo too. The Benders are doing their best to carry on a proud history and tradition. They are doing it much better than their detractors could do it, I’m sure. But, of course there is always room for improvement.

At least the old guy is STARTING to get the idea of Matthew 28, so however late in life, he is moving in the right direction.
