My grandparents had a Dumont TV set. It was big. Had good sound. The most fun feature for me was the Mallory-Ware “Induct tuner”. It did not click but tuned like a radio. Between channels 6 and 7, it would pick up FM radio just above channel six, then police, fire and taxi radios before you got to channel 7.
I’m staying with a ham buddy in Rochester NY for a couple of days so I will miss the traffic. WX is looking to be fairly good there, might drive east to Plattsburg NY where the WX is forecast to be even better. If this one turns out to be a bust, the next chance is August 12, 2026 in Spain.
I switched to my cable provider for my landline phone because the incumbent local exchange carrier never put any money into maintaining their copper cables. Every time it rained, it would get unbalanced and hum like crazy.
