@ericward “Hacking” used to be a word that described a variety of computer related things, mostly not illegal. Any task requiring deep skill and knowledge might be called “hacking”. It’s sad that the older meaning has been wiped out.
That strip is based on one that Trudeau wrote about Frank Sinatra, where the last panel had a photo of him with mobsters. I think Trudeau did get sued over it.

Umbrage used to be something a person could give as well as take, in older use. Giving umbrage is literally almost exactly the same as throwing shade.
