It was over a foot long, with not so much black more evenly black and white. Actually, I heard it before I saw it, and it was hard to spot in the woods, until I saw the head. Even that was hard to spot when it wasn’t hammering away at the tree, because other than then, it stayed completely still.
One of the most impressive birds I ever saw.
Except for Big, of course.

I really crack myself up sometimes too. Once I ROTFLMAO so hard I had to spend six months in traction. The weird thing is, it was all jokes I stole from Rodney Dangerfield.

AFAIC, this page is first and foremost about Wiley’s wonderfully subtly sick twisted devious mind and what escapes from it on a daily basis, and secondarily, what escapes from ours.
If that means, to you, entertaining comments about People Taking Each Other Too Seriously, hey, I personally am all for it . My personal emphasis on entertaining. YMMV. Yes, I’m lecturing myself too.

Not so much.
Sometimes it’s entertaining for your readers to play the occasional game of whack-a-mole with the Most Deserving Clueless. Cyberlife imitates cyberart, and … is there really any difference? It becomes an extension of your strip.
None of this is real, anyway. Except for your paycheck. (and I’m not getting a cut of that, but I’m not complaining - yet)
For example: why bother explaining things to someone like HabaneroBoink? Is there a rule that says you - or we - must? I know you do so out of courtesy, but seems to me, given the attitude of some arrogant readers who Know How Your Strip Should Be Run, How about a response like this when he insists that we All Take Him Very Very Seriously

At the very least, I’d say you don’t owe them a single word of explanation. As they say down south where I was born, “I ain’t takin’ you t’ raise…” Or as you may have heard it around these parts, “Don’t feed the trolls.”

I rest my case. Can’t even try to make this comics page even a little more like a user community than some of the readers want,
and take the trouble to do it after the next day’s strip has come out, so as not to bother anyone,
