My mom was ahead of the curve for this one. She called everyone “Hon” from the time she met them. And everyone who stepped in the house felt like they were family because of it.

@TheDoctor – Last I knew Jan Eliot lives not far from Eugene/Springfield Oregon. A few months back one of the Eugene police officers was shot at point blank range by a person he pulled over for a traffic violation. He died on the spot. I suspect Jan has Phil’s badge banded as a sign of respect for our fallen officer.

I can think of a few court cases locally that could use a judge and jury like that one.

Wiley, This strip could work as the back story to Moby Dick, too, but the comments would not have been as lively.

    Thanks for the laugh.

Jan, I have been following this strip since before syndication and it just gets better. Thanks for the insight to family, work, dating, and life.

I coffee toast you and look forward to more years to come.

Wiley, I always have to feel sorry for the people who think a comic strip should be an accurate representation of scripture. This strip today would be wonderful to place in a church bulletin at some point when a pastor wants to teach on this passage. Thank you for being thick skinned enough to make up these great pieces despite all the “theology” students and their comments.

I think people have been suggesting that paring for years. What would be fun is seeing a “job fair” type situation with all of the kids and their “causes” next to each other. You know, Lucy the Psychiatrist, Danaeism, GROSs and such. I am sure that Wiley has a number of scenarios in mind - just can’t get the appropriate permissions.

I remember 2 years of an office with the thermostat being under the skylight. If the sun was shining the a/c was on. In summer the sun shining on that thermostat caused the a/c to actively lower the interior temp to about 60 degrees. In winter the a/c kept the temp to 64 degrees. There were many days in January when we would go outside on the landing to warm up. In the summer we had to ease our way outdoors for fear of our bodies going into shock when we stepped into the 80+ degree heat.
