I’ve known Steve Kelley for 40 years and had coffee with him just a couple months ago … and yes, he actually looks like that picture. He could easily pass for someone in his mid-40s.

Dot, Virginia, is so small, that is actually the case: the town signs are on both sides of the post, as can be seen in a photo my friend Bob Brown took that appears in “Back Roads, People, Places and Pie in Virginia” … https://www.pediment.com/products/back-roads-virginia-hardcover-book

All of those are bands playing in summer concerts in central Virginia (and I’ve never heard of a single one of them, either).

Yep, that Fannie Flagg. She’s a Pluggers fan from way back!

Actually, me and Mrs. Plugger have to get the degree with her. I’m hoping we can start this summer.

Thanks, Jo Clear. That little dog is somewhat based on our year-and-a-half old bichon, DeDe. She made it through basic training last year (got the diploma)… and now that she’s a little older, her trainer is encouraging her to go on and get an advanced degree in “therapy.” She loves people (and other dogs). In earlier years, the little dogs I drew were our other bichons, Max and Sandy (both have now crossed that Rainbow Bridge).

A couple of years ago, I found a new, $50 bill on the floor in a big box hardware store. I turned it in at the Customer Service desk. Two clerks there said no one had reported missing money, but they would put it in a drawer in case someone came by looking for it. As we left, Mrs. Plugger and I both got the impression that the bill wouldn’t stay in the drawer for someone to come claim … We figured the clerks would probably go out and have a nice dinner together after work that night.
