Pshaw… where do you come up with these wild speculations, Lad?:-)

In this incident, Hobbes’ actions remind me of the unexpected “judo lessons” of Clouseau’s houseboy Kato. Then again, it’s these “training” sessions that keep Calvin and the great Inspector so sharp.

As a “chauffer,” I went sledding with our church youth group at a popular family sledding hill. Going down head-first and seeing some young people in the path, tried slowing down by digging my hands in the snow ahead of me. This resulted in not much slowing and the snow spraying into my face, covering my glasses so I couldn’t see.

So, here’s the picture: overweight, middle-aged man flying down this hill, blinded by snow, head-first on a plastic sled. Children screaming, jumping out of the way as their short lives flash before their eyes.

Fortunately, all survived the run (including myself), the ride ending with man and sled parting ways after hitting a snow bank that would safely stop the average tot.

It proved to be a great amusement for the young people and my fellow chauffers/chaperones. Ah, Michigan… winter wonderland!

Just another step in the learning process we “boys” go through. A necessary step before becoming “twitterpated” – to borrow the description from Disney.:-)

With all the plastic work done on poor old Joan… it may violate some EPA rules to let her remains seep into the earth.
