“The nation as a whole would have benefited had Boehnor, Pelosi, Reid, and McConnall ALL stepped down from their leadership positions to let younger and more open minds to lead the parties out of the pit in which our Congress has fallen. "

Hmm… Ryan, who hates birth control? Broun, who lives on a 9000-year-old Earth? Todd Akin, who believes rape provides the best birth control? Sensebrenner, who believes climate change theory is a “massive international [fascist] scientific fraud”? Or Rohrabacher, who blames dinosaur farting for historic warming patterns…?

I’ve finally realized that Garry Trudeau doesn’t have to be inspired to come up with these strips. All he does is pay attention….

Fair comment, Trudeau. On the other hand, in 1993, according to the 1994 FSU criminology college’s study, supervised by Dr. Gary Kleck, roughly 2.5 million people used their guns successfully to defend themselves against attacks by criminals. The study hasn’t been updated, but I wonder how many saved lives that extrapolates to during those nine years. Curiously, that study has been unmentioned by the media during any of these debates.

I think Ol’ St. Peter may be missing the point: No one in Heaven needs a gun; they have a better class of resident — and better security…

Consensus of statistics suggests that somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 people are fatally shot annually in America. That’s bad.

On the other side of the coin, according to the National Self-Defense Survey conducted by Florida State University’s widely respected school of criminology in 1994 (when fewer people admitted to carrying guns in public), the rate of defensive gun uses was projected nationwide at approximately 2.5 million per year. With many more people licensed and armed nowadays, it seems likely that the number has increased. You won’t hear that on mainstream media (nor, it seems, from Bad Reporter), but that’s good.

“Seasisme said, ‘Wow, Trudeau advocating violence, who’d a thunk it? Pretty sad, or just babyish.’”

Mr. (or perhaps Ms.) Seasisme needs someone to help him looking up definitions: “advocating” and “satire.” It’s a subtle distinction, but apparently beyond him….

Has anyone ever noticed that comments about this strip tend uniformly to be spelled and punctuated correctly…?
