I guess I had it wrong… I always told my kids that it meant that the dropped object picked up EVERYTHING in 5 seconds—there was no saving it once dropped. They took my word for it because they knew what they saw on our kitchen floor— cat butts, bare feet, diapered bottoms, …

I wonder that, too! I enjoyed it so much— the little children and their families stopping by. I always had a large caldron of apples, candies, treats and small toys/games/magic tricks collected throughout the year! I used the caldron even when I didn’t wear the witch costume. In 2019, we had NO trick-or-treaters at all. I saw a group of teens walking down the street and enticed them over to fill their hoodie pockets with chocolate, popcorn balls, elastic finger lights, finger traps and boxes of crayons— clearance school supplies. Not the same of course, but a wholly special memory— young people a foot taller than I (me?) crowing in surprised glee over holiday goodies.

That looks like a porcelain sink we had long ago. She might very well use lightweight dish tubs inside it—papier mache, plastic, silicone… Dad had his own separate tubs for machine parts, but the one sink was used for dishes, veggies, laundry, bathing children and dogs, pretty much everything.
