If taste were a major criterion, I wouldn’t be a Rall fan. There are other values and measures.

If I were an Iranian I would surely have voted for Mousavi and would be on the streets of Tehran at this moment, being the educated, humane, non-relgious, cosmpolitan leftist that I am. But it is entirely possible that Ahmadinejad actually, unfortunately, did win. Among superstitious rednecks he had a following and, Iran living under constant threat of military assault by you-know-who and you-know who-else, the tougher, meaner guy may have gotten the nod. As a North Carolinian, I lived through over twenty years of representation by the crypto-fascist , racist tenure of Jesse Helms, yet I have never personally known anybody who admitted voting for him. In general, mean rednecks seem to have a built in advantage. (BTW, the last poll taken before the election seemed to give the edge to Amjad). Lotta things in life suck.

Atmosphere in BK des seem to make a hard man humble & the tough guys tumble … But is this cartoon maybe a little cruel? I mean David was probably a harmless enough fellow and does leave a grieving family…not sure. Not that I don’t still admire Ted.

Bromo preempted my comment more or less. Ted never cheers me up but at least supplies me a shoulder to look over into the abyss. But then in the long run, I’m less pure than him; I’m troubled by the question:Is it REALLY an abyss?

I get the point and share the sentiment, except that, being cartoon satire, it exaggerates. I too am moderately disappointed in Obama, for whom I had moderately high expectations. I also got the point of the old bumpersticker that said “People are no bleeep good”. Also a valid point but an exaggeration.

Hooray. Our income went down about $12,000 for 2008, but we’re getting a nice tax rebate. And our intelligence and ethical sensibilities are being less insulted almost daily.

One of Ted’s bitterest & best.

Happiness with presidents is a matter of degree. Artistically, Obama gets a much saner, nicer depiction than El Busho. But you can’t ignore the gathering disappointment among rational, humane observers. I, for one, see the new glass as half full and give conditional thanks.
