It’s always better to not let others define you.

Actual conservatives do not have to LIE in order to make their case.

    .

The opposite of the ‘current definition’.

I have a friend who always says the only thing worse than a tax-and-spend liberal is a cut-taxes-and-spend conservative.

There have always been conservatives, some who defended liberals to conserve the political state as they knew it. The philosophy of the republic presumes the examination of issues from the perspectives of right and left, then arriving at a consensus solution. The current crop of radicals calling themselves conservative are just that; Radicals, not Conservatives.

Bloomberg Opinion Today: A potential irony of America’s new cold war with China is that misguided animosity toward Chinese people… to keep beating China in innovation, the U.S. must keep welcoming skilled immigrants, including from Asia, encouraging higher education and automating the workforce. Too many Americans hate all of that stuff, and if they achieve critical mass, then America could lose its status as the world’s R&D department.

What, exactly, are these people “conserving”?

    re: “cons”

The Senate, where the Democratic half of the Senate will represent 41,549,808 more people than the Republican half but the Republican half can still veto most policy efforts by the Democrats using the Jim Crow filibuster.

Likewise in the House, Democrats received more than 4.7 million more votes than Republicans. Because of Republican gerrymandering—carving up congressional districts to benefit their own party—in 2018, Democrats won 200,000 more votes than Republicans in Wisconsin, but just three out of the state’s eight U.S. House seats. Likewise, in Texas Democrats won 47% of the vote, but just 13 of the state’s 36 seats. In North Carolina in 2018, Democrats got 50% of the vote for House seats, but gained just 23% of them.

Society has left Republicans in the dust, culturally, and it’s only those structural inequities that has allowed Republicans to have the power they wield. McConnell knows that, which is why he’s fighting so hard to preserve the filibuster—without it Democrats can enact the election reforms that doom Republicans

Modern “conservatives” are simply selfish nihilists.

When a pendulum swings too far in either direction, it rarely returns to its original position. The same holds true for conservatives. Their version of conservatism is gone and unlikely to return.

GQPs want to keep the divide deep and strong. They don’t allow moderate conservatives anymore – if you are not strictly alt-right then you are a RINO, or a (insert long tirade of insults here) liberal….
