Socialism and religions share the same self-sacrificial ethics.

It is interesting that Progressives preach giving, but conservatives are the ones who actually do it.

Probably because progressives only want Others to give

@j gray. As long as we continue to define individuals’ entire moral makeup by their political affiliation, things will continue to get worse. One’s willingness to donate their own time, money, or other resources To help others is not a function of their political status.

The majority of the charitable giving the right-wing does is to support their churches. When their churches preach “generosity, caring, giving” they mean that the members of the church are to be generous to the church itself.

Evangelicals always cared far more about power than they cared about the things that Jesus preached. They denigrated the Pope when he said there should be much more focus on supporting the poor. They want to control women’s reproductive rights, but they don’t want to support pre- or post-natal care in any way. They even want to eliminate decent public education in favor of religious schools.

Another liberal who are just one dimensional haters. They demonize the religious, and then try to coopt them when it serves thier purposes. They state that those who are not liberals are kooks and claim they are hypocrites because they go to church. Classic psychologic projection.

Right now, American corporation with TELL you that profit is their only reason for existing. And they regard the whole concept of corporate ethics and corporate citizenship to be quaint and out of date.

It is proven that conservatives give more to charities IF they can write them off on their taxes. Many, perhaps most of those on the left give without expecting recourse and there is no record of their giving. To say that conservatives give more is truly unproven. The only thing you can prove is that conservatives keep records of what they give more than others do.

Which church? Most televangelists, megachurches, and those who believe in the Prosperity Gospel are out to get your money. Just Google the richest pastors in the world. It’s not about Jesus’ message of love, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and lovingkindness anymore. Or perhaps never was.

As a person that grew up in a Very Conservative household, I was taught to voluntarily give to causes that benefit those that need help. However when it’s mandated by taxation and quotas, it doesn’t make it a willing gift.
