I don’t think I even have a paisley necktie on my necktie rack.

Now, if you’re a plugger out West, it’s a Bolo with a Turquoise slide, pard!

Hawaiian pattern ties are a bit of an oxymoron…..that’s why I had so many back in my “working days”. Not so much any more….

Sorry, so sorry, I used to love paisley ties, which date me back to the 1970s, although not the purple and pink combination shown here—-yuck!

Yes, paisley is definitely the mark of a plugger. Great if you want to keep working, but at least retire the paisley tie.

Microbiologists still like to wear paisley. It reminds them of microscope slides.

I loved my paisley ties! They hid the coffee and food stains so well. And all the colors coordinated with most any shirt.

Tried to wear my paisley tie to church one time. Wife said I was NOT leaving the house with it on and not going to church was not an option.

Between a necktie and panty hose/nylons and heels, I’d rather do the tie. My first job [with benefits] was in the office of a manufacturing plant and my supervisor said that I should wear dresses instead of pant suits [I was one of two women working there]. I needed the job, so I could finish my degree, so I made three shift dresses and wore them for 2 years. My next job — this one as a research analyst — one of the managers suggested that I wear heels because it would do wonders for my legs. I replied that I would wear heels if he would wear them in the office as well. That was in 1980. I remained on the job; that manager got rotated elsewhere.

Possibly. It’s good, if you’re a man, to have more than one tie.

I’ve got dozens of ties, all gathering dust on the tie rack in the closet. Used to buy them from an international airline stewardess who had a side biz selling silk ties from Thailand. She charged $3 to $4 each, fun designs.

Wearing a tie is like having a noose around your neck, except the other end of the rope is held by a fashion designer.

I have several, I don’t think any are paisley, but most are from that era. Wearing them? mostly a thing of the past except for special occasions.

How can you be a plugger and have only one necktie? Most of us “pluggers” have lived long enough to have been gifted with so many ties you can not find places to hang them all. I have a purple paisley tie almost identical to the one today’s plugger is wearing.

Husband still has ALL of his ties from when he was working. (He comes from people who neither donate or throw anything out.) He had put up two long pieces of rubber tubing on the wall inside of his closet and the ties went over same. The rubber tubing finally ripped through to the end from the nails holding them in place. We have rather small closets.

So where are all of these ties – which he does not need and will only need one for a funeral or if one of our niblings ever gets married (not a likely situation)? They are on hangers – in closet of course! His closet has too much clothing in it and is overstuffed (even though he changes out the clothing seasonally. I have a closet the same size – maybe even a bit smaller – and have more than enough room for my clothes, his ties and have room left over.
