Good answer, Earl, or tomorrow you may be eating Muffin’s food.

Smart move, Earl. On day two, I grin and bear it. On day three I use hot sauce. On day four, I push them around and eat whatever else there is. And so does Spouse. Then someone makes a couple of melted witches (toasted cheese sand-witches) and we agree that NEXT time we’ll freeze half of them for later.

When I went to Jasper National Park, I found a Polish restaurant with delicious cabbage rolls and I had them every day I was there.

Stuffed cabbage is one of my favorite meals and in my mouth day three is the best. I can judge even a day four, as the pot ran empty. I really wish my wife would go to the trouble more often.

Please don’t suggest I do the honors, you’ve never eaten my cooking. My skills are to pay the check and leave a good tip.

I’m the cook in the house. We rarely eat the same meal two days in a row. I’m glad I don’t live with Opal. Plus….cabbage rolls? Ugh!

Cabbage stinks the first day you make it. Then it just gets worse. Then there’s the stink from the farts from eating it.

Some dishes/foods get better on day 2 or day 3. Let those apices/flavors wrestle with each other for awhile and they just get tastier!

If you make that much, use some for dinner and freeze the rest. Then you can have it another day and it’ll be fresher.

    Random musings:

My mother taught us, “It’s a sin to waste food.” (And this was the only thing we ever heard her declare to be a sin, so we knew it was a biggie.)

My wife and I both love leftovers — what’s better than enjoying a good meal a second time?

Since it’s easier not to cook as often, I prepare as much now (empty-nesters) as when we were raising our two kids and could count on anywhere from four to five at our dinner table. We often plan on a dish being two meals (two dinners, or a dinner and a lunch) or more, depending on what it is.

There are many ways to jazz up leftovers — additional seasonings, vegetables, cheese, etc.
