Some friends and I were discussing this today, widows remarrying, we all have decided not to. Why be some old man’s nurse? Some widowers want a nurse with a purse full of money, well skip that.

I was widowed at 39. Yes, I remarried. But if it happens a second time, I’m done.

Maybe she should start meeting someone with money now. You know, just to be sure.

You are assuming someone the same age or there about. Forget that – go for cute, handsome, intelligent, financially comforatable – most of all younger. After all, women live longer than men.

My first thought was that Earl was going to announce a new plan – Opal should go first.

Who’s to say she married for love? Maybe she married him for his good looks.

Unfortunately, the second time around is money related on both parties. Living together, pooling their resources and not married is more advantageous

Zebrastripes, not necessarily. I was widowed at 32, found love again at 48 and we married 3 years ago only because I can carry my health insurance into retirement, but he had to be on my insurance for 5 years before I retire. Yes, we married for the health insurance! In this case, marriage was more advantageous. Normally, it is better to live together, or stay in your own homes and just enjoy each other’s company. But, we both bring good things to the marriage, he has more money in his retirement, I have the insurance.

Isn’t that an old axiom: First time for love, second time…

Now, I’m confused about, “…neither love nor money…”?

    “What if I love money?”

    or

“I thought you were rich when I married you.”

    or

“I will do it for the same reason as last time, to make someone ecstatic.”

    or

“I will do it for the same reason as last time, to make someone miserable.”

She didn’t marry for love the first time, she just wanted a verbal punching bag.

Love it…being a widow I have no interest in remarrying. We had our time together and I am fulfilled.

I was widowed before age 30. Took a long time to get over that. Got real lucky with the second one. I’m not going to ever try for a third.
