    I would had used a “thought balloon” for this part of the dialogue for the cartoon if I were involved in its creation: “Darn, I gotta up my game.”

    Have you ever noticed that many animals don’t have (or at least use) lips to keep their chewing inside? We have bird feeders which also attracts squirrels, opossums, raccoons; they all chew without the use of lips. And of course, the birds who don’t chew much also have no lips.
