Mandarin Chinese is based on pronunciation too. The wrong stress and lilt and you could be saying eating eyes than eating grapes.

The don’t understand it. Just see it. How many get the chance to see goblins perform?

So I’m guessing the subtitle spell is only good for dragoneese?

Some opera stages have digital subtitle screens right below. This one looks like it could need that.

First panel makes me think that the production cribs a bit from Annie.

35 years ago the girls in my lit class were oohing and ahhing over the Italian language and how beautiful it is. I made the observation that any language that ends most words in a long vowel is likely to be “beautiful”. It wasn’t a popular comment. LOL

Linguistics aside, let’s face it, the plots of many operas or ballets etc. do not bear close examination.

In the human world, there are a few opera librettists whose work can be called brilliant, such as Gilbert, von Hofmannsthal, and Boito, but beautiful? Well, that’s—unusual.

(I only ever made a living as a computer programmer, but I spent over twenty years doing opera and Viennese operetta in a small professional company on the side, so I’m not a exactly a stranger in that world.)

Goblin opera would seem to be most extraordinary!
