When the people who do have common overlapping interests allow differences in how to achieve those goals to over-ride compromise for a general consensus, and the opposition has a well-oiled propaganda machine in high gear, we run the severe danger of minority rule. It happened in the 1930’s in Germany. It could happen here.

Wow. Just how outta touch do you have be to portray Progressives as rastafarians? Not seeing Trump and supporters being portrayed as the Nazi and Stalinist elements they are.

There is no such thing as a “moderate Democrat” or being “kinda pregnant”. You either hold the caring, inclusive, supportive, educated values of the majority of the American people, or you are Republican.

    Moderates are worse.

Alt-right = “The country is broken, and this is how to fix it”Progressive leftist = “The country is broken, and this is how to fix it”

Moderate = “Lets just leave things how they are. Fixing things might upset someone.”

I gotta say, after having a member of the Democratic Socialists of America claim that Stalin’s purges are a hoax, I have to wonder what’s going on in their heads.

Eliminate fossil fuels! – Won’t happen. Cut down on fossil fuel dependence! – Might happen.

Eat no red meat! – Won’t happen. Eat less red meat! – Might happen.

Mainstream Liberals have many (if not all) the same goals as Progressives, but they have a different approach for how to achieve them. Republicans/Conservatives/Trumpists have VERY different goals…

I once again return to Johnathan Swifts “A Modest Proposal” In the work Swift claims that the way to solve the “Irish Problem” (Starvation) is to Eat the Children.

I suppose Phil Hands “Moderate” would think that an acceptable compromise is “Eat Half of the Children”

When you compromise with a Criminal and Traitor you are accepting a moderate amount of Crime and Treason.

Let us recall it is the ‘conservatives’ who are locking up children in concentration camps.

You know, America has had policies for well over 150 years that can be described as “Socialism” After the Civil War, many states, both North and South spent money to help their disabled veterans with artificial limbs, and homes for the helplessly maimed. When Auto makers get into trouble by mismanagement, or financial houses & banks implode from embezzlement, they get help from congress. It is the republicans who have made it a dirty word, equating it with communism and trying to scare people away from the democrats. As Stephen Runnels (above) alludes to: If you care about people, you are likely to be a democrat. If you care about profits, you are a republican.

Nothing wrong with discussing, debating or even arguing about the best ways to accomplish goals… as long as when the time comes we all come together to overcome the common obstacles… but with that said… moderates do need to stop outright dismissing liberals, who make up at least half of the left, as radicals who can’t win.

If you don’t see this situation as a serious problem, then you are part of the problem.
