Well, yesterday, RAT, whether or not his “victim” knew, succeeded in his goal with that abuse towards another human being, today, somebody caught on to RAT’S “shtick” in time for RAT to “lose.” Well, ya can’t win ‘em all….dan aka….
Think that’s big? Corning Glass Museum in Corning NY has a collection of gigantic old German beer steins (“humpen”), many of which would put that to shame.
Christmas used to be similar to the beeroween rat speaks of. Adults, mostly males, would go from house to house knocking on doors asking for some Christmas cheer.
What we need is a day for children to dress up, get candy, and have fun, without adults making it commercial and ruining things for the children. Can’t be Halloween or Valentine Days. They’ve become too expensive and for adults only.
In the early 1940s when I was a kid in elementary school our teachers told us never to say “Trick or treat” when we went “begging” for candy on Halloween night. We were to say ”Please help the poor” because “Trick or treat” was considered a threat. Of course we were just coming out of the depression and World War Two was raging so things were very different back then.
Once upon a time (~50 years ago) there was a brief fad in California with adults going house to house after putting the kids to bed. They’d hold out a glass and say, “Trick or liquor.”It didn’t catch on.
The problem with that is that unless you drink all of it between houses, you’re going to be mixing a lot of beer together which is bound to be disgusting when you’re done. Not to mention the birds.
I know a man who went with his kids on Halloween carrying a shot glass which he would hold out to whoever opened the door. He had it filled at a few of the homes.

If he actually drinks that much beer, that mug can be used for a second purpose.

Question: Rat if the mug you carry by chance did get filled, won’t it be too heavy to carry ?!

If you can lift that thing (assuming it is glass), then you could go as MIghty Mouse for Halloween!

Once the trick-or-treaters are done on Halloween night, our neighbor comes across the street for Trick or Beer.

A very rum Idea, Rat. How did you come to gin that up? Did I perceive a very rye expression on the neighbor’s face?

After the success (and stress) of Trunk or Treat, we’ve decided next year to follow it up with Drunk or Treat.

Back in the middle of the last century, we used to go trick-or-drinking to our friend’s houses.

The problem is, everyone wants to receive beer, but no one wants to give it away.
