I’m screwed! Offending people is one of the few things I enjoy.

To all the whiners out there who think that being called a name is the worst thing in the world, repeat after me:

The bullies that wish to be free to offend now mock the very concept of offense. Callous disregard for the feelings of others has become quite fashionable in recent years. Is it now not possible to be justifiably offended?

I’m offended by this era.

I’m still flabbergasted at Jim Jordan’s comment that, and I’m paraphrasing here, we have a “God-given right” to own guns.

I’m offended that our society has gone to hades. On one side, there’s the woke crowd. On the other, there’s people claiming that Jewish space lasers are what started the fires in California.

Sigh Everyone is offended and oppressed by everything. It’s the current fashion, and it’s the best, indeed the only anymore, way to get sympathy and attention. A person without a load of grievance almost doesn’t exist. So MY grievance is more grievous and offensive than your grievance, and everyone walks on eggshells. It’s exhausting and far too often much too fatuous.

Just treat other people the same way you would like to be treated.

YES, some people are too easily offended. There are also a whole lot of people who THRIVE on giving offense, and think it’s impressive and daring to behave like an @$$hole.

I offended myself by being offended, but then got confused and forgot about it.

I was offended that a bunch of people broke into the heart of American democracy to threaten the peaceful transfer of power, but THEY were all offended that someone told them their guy lost an election, so doesn’t it all balance out in the end?

We live in a country where some people get offended because a store clerk said “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.”

I am offended by people being offended by what I say. All these PC “woke” people should be banned from everything. Everyone who tries to cancel people deserves to be canceled. I should be allowed to say anything I want, but no one else should be allowed to say what they think if they disagree with it. Cancel culture is terrible, and we should get together and boycott everyone and everything that supports it.

Then I can safely go back to being the terrible, terrible person I was when America was great.

Everybody has to be a victim sometime, and then demand support and justice. Instead of spending limited time and resources, and taxpayer money, on science, (actual) history, and the 3-Rs, this is what’s being pushed in schools. Small wonder that the horrid Republicans get elected. I’d be blind angry if my kid came home from school spouting this codswallop.

Remember—you have to choose to be offended. Like @Basilbruce said—sticks and stones etc. It’s only when you pick up the offence that it becomes one.

People who feel powerless lack meaning in their loves. It’s when they seek meaning by attaining power, or even being encouraged to do so is when we have problems. All the riots we’ve been having since 2020 and other disruptions of our fragile peace have shown that. And no instigators from any side have accepted responsibility for what they’ve wrought.

To all people who think like this, I don’t care. I have an opinion and a right to share it. If you don’t like it, then that’s your opinion and you have a right to share it. No need for childish name calling. It’s called freedom of speech.

It’s too bad that society spends so much time and energy on either being offended or getting upset at the offended. If only we could put that much time and energy into actual, historic, entrenched problems like racism, sexism, income inequality, criminal justice inequities, gun violence, environmental issues…
