How easy it is to discredit, demolish and demonize the ‘other’ side by cherry-picking its excesses. Yes, some protesters go too far, but the era of institutional racism continues. Yes, cancel culture goes too far, but in this comic the critics have a very valid point that continues to be all too timely. Even many ‘liberal’ historians still seem to think it’s all about the ‘West.’ So if they write a ‘history of XXX,’ it focuses on the mostly white, North Atlantic world, and not on the whole, round world. If they write a history of the UK, they devote a few paragraphs in 1000 pages to the profits it made on its investments in colonialism and slavery. The list goes on and on. I have fun mocking too. But it’s all too easy, Stephen – and my dear fellow readers – to forego action with the help of mockery of the other side. Which is often, so to speak, the ‘other.’ Don’t get me wrong, my fellow ‘liberals’ are often hypocritical know-nothings.…But in the end, Truth is Truth.

I never could figure out just when the “Mauve Decade” was supposed to have been.

Now, the Age of Aquarius can be pretty confidently said to have “dawned” in 1967-68. Says so right in the song.

After some time being called the Don’t-Care-Era it became Too-Late-Era.

In thirty years humanity will recognize the 2020s as the time in which their errors of the past century were already incorrigible. Kind of like the thirties of the 20th century when it was too late to avoid WW2.

The whole era naming or generation naming thing is a bit silly, isn’t it? First of all, it can only ever speak about a small slice of society. Think of “The Greatest Generation.” If it’s speaking of that entire generation across the world, that was the generation of concentration camps and holocaust and death marches as well as young people marching into harms way in order to protect democracy.

But we do like to name things. So I choose to name the current generation/era “The Age of Outrage.”

The tragic thing about it is that there are too many who should be outraged but don’t care, so they are complacent instead. Nothing can be done to correct anything when people don’t care.

Like how the stinkin’ trolls whose party wants to ban books, control women’s bodies, restrict voting in areas with POC, etc etc claim that they’re the party of humanity? And that’s not even counting the lies, nepotism, grifting, national security problems, and a long list of completely unprofessional behavior. Oh yeah, then there’s all the sex scandals, sex trafficking of underage girls, groping of underage girls, and their bragging about gun violence. Ooo, but they also think it’s fine to beat and tear gas parishioners at their own church for a photo op. Or their War on the Poor.

Yep, that’s their idea of humanity alright.
