Life’s motto in the 1970s: “He likes it! Hey, Mikey!”
It was supposed to have been over by now…
It… was… supposed…to… have… been… over…
‘All things must pass’ sang George Harrison.
hopefully it gets over with soon
It feels like a cloud of doom hanging over all of the US. I am grateful for the change. However….
Pandemic reminded us of the vagaries of life and the frailties of humanity. We can’t (or maybe shouldn’t) blame a party or a person, no one knows exactly what to do. This “societal stress test” has certainly revealed flaws in the system
It could be over. It should be over. But apparently some people would rather poison themselves, die, and kill others than do the very simple and easy things that could end it.
Here in Folsom, California, we’ve been having carnivals and outdoor gatherings, often maskless, on an ordinary basis since late 2020, and the world hasn’t ended.
History shows that pandemics last for years, usually at least four. One of our many mistakes this time around was thinking it would be over quickly. When it’s novel and worldwide, not to mention when people refuse to cooperate with efforts to mitigate it, the pandemic is going to last a long time. Wars can last a long time.
“Not dead yet.”
2022: “Hold mah beer.”
2022 … Come on, Man!
it’s so over here… all depends on where and how you live
Only 50% of Americans are vaccinated. But that is because of the kids. 78% of adults have had at least one shot which is a good sign.
Rat, you and me both.
Just remember next year will be twenty twenty too
At least he has more hair.
Don’t jinx it. Don’t jinx it.
Yeah, well, the universe has decided to punish for whatever reason. A little bit more waiting and maybe it will be gone before the Apocalypse. Or maybe it is the Apocalypse? Hmmmm?
Has anyone given any thought to the fate of the poor lipstick manufacturers?
as i carve out my daily sanity..
2022 will be a defining year. It’s more than just the pandemic we need to get thru but climate change is now showing how destructive the weather has become from droughts to killer heatwaves to killer hurricanes and massive flooding. Rapture me now Jesus
Been reading NYT again, eh, Rat.
I think we better be ready for it to NEVER “be over” – I’m prepared to need to be “cautious” for the rest of my life.
You should never give a politician more power, they will always abuse it. You should also never let the news media know how easily you can be scared. They will also abuse that knowledge. Fewer scary stories, fewer dictatorial politicians, more vaccines. Problem solved.
Downward trend, eh? Try this. Get out a sheet of graph paper. Plot quality on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal. Enter data points for these: Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush the Adequate, Bush the Lesser, Trump. Perform a regression analysis. Discuss.
Well, the good news is that it grows more hair for you.
For 2022: “WHY ISN’T IT OVER YET?!?!”
As do l my friend, as do l…..
It IS over in many respects. Especially if you are vaccinated. We just have to get Washington to understand that.
I predict things are going to get a lot worse, before this is over.
Where is Brandon?
Don’t go there, one day at a time. So don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow can worry about itself. One day’s trouble at a time is quite enough. Matthew 6:34
I agree rat.
Sung to the tune of Yellow Submarine, “We all live in a Land of Idiots, Land of Idiots, Land of Idiots…
Two weeks to flatten the curve. Those who thought it would go on for months were just conspiracy theorists.
I’m precocious, I guess. the 2021 motto was my life’s motto in 2019.
May our only upcoming major fear be 2014-15… Dictatorship vs. Run Away Socialism.
I never could see any humor in the movie “Ground Hog Day,” doing it over and over unto eternity. The worst of all of it though is Trump and that real plot to take down our country. The only thing that saved the good old U.S. of A was and is that Trump is a dumb as a brick narcissist.
Life’s motto in 2020, Cabin Fever. Life’s motto in 2021: We’re not gonna take it anymore
I thought the motto was “Lets go Brandan”
I figure that if you post a comment on a newer strip, you’re more likely to get replies, I made this account yesterday, so I have had no replies. please reply to this.
And now,Eddie Lawrence will recite “The Old Philosopher”.
2021. I think the motto is actually “You gotta fight for your right to party” in honour of all those trying to live their normal lives and party with friends and family while ignoring the governments recommendations.
2022 The motto will be “I’m still standing after all these years” or “I will Survive”
Buckle Up …the Rodeo has just begun!
You shall not pass!
If you’re being responsible and exercising common sense, then you are doing something to end the pandemic. It’s a cliche, but it really is in our hands.
The Devil came in the guise of an elevator operator (old style). Going down, sir?
Yes, replied the Brave New World….
At least you know how to use apostrophes
If masks work so well, how come the only time you see Dems wearing them is when they are on camera? Whenever they think no one is looking, they unmask. Then they come up with some lame excuse when they get caught. I saw a video a couple of days ago of some lefty bigwig preparing to give a speech. The cameras showed him backstage unmasked the entire time he was waiting to go on. When it was his time to speak, he put a mask on, walked to the lectern, and immediately removed his mask! He wore it for a grand total of about 5 seconds, but he put it on to make it appear that he was always masked.
Down a dark hole in misery is what we are circling.
@stephenpastis find something else to write about. This is old.
