ONE key to time management is to avoid doing things that don’t need to be done. But the BEST key is to delegate.

I use that same method for clearing the table after Thanksgiving dinner; it’s always set for next Thanksgiving.

I’m surprised neighbor Bob never noticed they were up all year.

If he were to take them down clear until September without an observant passerby, then Rat would have another two or three months to put the Christmas lights back on.

Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow, for events may occur which will cause you to regret your hasty action. Often, it actually does work that way. But then, never do tomorrow what can be put off until the day after tomorrow…

Did he put more effort into saying “You bet … You bet … You bet … Fine” than it would’ve taken to take down the lights?

This is why I quit with the lights 30 years ago.

    And trees 20 years ago.

Gift wrap 10 years ago – made some cloth bags but the whole dynamic went the gift card route.

and THIS year, DH is going to go into our loft, pull out the tree and put it on Freecycle (not a fresh tree, hope that’s obvious).

My neighbor still has a cardboard Christmas tree on their front door, and a stuffed Halloween decoration sitting in a chair in front of the house. It just makes my house look neater.

I know a woman who kept her lights up for about 18 months. The only reason she took them down was that she sold her house.

I have a white string of lights up all year along the front steps on a fence. A string of colored lights on a bush, I turn off most of the year. And 2 projectors for the holidays starting Halloween.

A lot of people near me leave strings of lights (clear , not colored) up all year. I always wonder, are they going to have a party soon, or what?

I left my Christmas lights up for the entire four years of college. Whenever my roommates and I had a party, we’d tell our guests to look for the house with the Christmas lights on, even in July.
