The writer who retreats today lives to write another day.
Can we actually have this please? I feel like participating.
Excellent visualization as usual from Pastis. Great strip.
Goat, if you want to be a writer, you should be aware words have several meanings.
Is panel 2 Pig’s visualization of Writers Retreat? Or is it Goat’s recollection?
Pig should have gone, too, he’s so literal.
Ironically, Goat paid for the retreat with his charge card.
Writing a novel is a marathon, not a sprint.
Well, he could have thought that it was a place where writers get another treat.
I wonder what it is that they’re retreating from?
Writing is too hard because you gotta get food on your plate, a shelter on your head, and some clothes on your body. Writing doesn’t pay.
Is that the “It’s called writing” Legacy 5k runs?
Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell” playing in the background :-)
Was the retreat led by G.R.R. Martin?
“WRITING’S TOO HARD!!”…and reading this strip is getting harder!
Whatever you do, don’t retweet that!
Toon Boy brings up the rear.
Yes, writing is hard, discouraging, painful and emotionally draining. However, NOT writing is even worse (for a writer).
I always wondered what they do at retreats.
Pig is hilarious! Thank you Stephan, you make me start every morning with a laugh.
I would expect journalists to do that.
Maybe THAT’s why Hollywood is not coming up with any new stories?!
Writers retreat….. after they get an advance.
If you think writing is hard, try roofing in August.
Pastis seems to prevail everyday…
For most of us writers, writing is fun. It’s the business that is hard.
Pelosi, Trump, and all 2020 presidential candidates are looking for a new social media writer who could make them appear younger, smarter, and connected to the constituents than the actual 1% that Pelosi, Trump and all presidential candidates are connected.
I feel this way almost every day!!! But writing is an addiction, a sickness from which I fear I will never recover.
“Pig, are you pondering what I’m pondering?”“Probably not.”
Not only is writing hard, but the odds of making a good living are approximately the same odds that a little kid has at birth… of becoming another Lew Alcindor, John Denver or President.
Pig knows what he thinks Writers’ Retreat means. And maybe he’s more right than wrong….
I can relate. I’ve done a good bit of writing over the years, and it’s a lot harder than it seems. With determination, though, the end result can be awesome. Don’t give up, Goat!
Also, seems like we haven’t seen Zebra (or the Crocs) here in quite some time …
