Breaking news: Stephan Pastis used to sign his earlier strips!! You can see his signature in almost all Pearls strips from 2002 and some strips from 2003.

Many, many years ago, my bank questioned a check of mine because the signature looked different than my normal one. In fact, it was legitimate, but I appreciated that they had noticed.

Somehow I can’t imagine that banks still do this. Although I don’t pay much by check anymore.

Yeah, that signature ought to be an easy one to duplicate.

Checks? Doesn’t he just use credit and debit cards and/or pay online?

Apparently, everyone could have forged his checks – how can you not be able to scribble a mess like that!

Nobody compares signatures anyway except after the fact when somebody complains. Once had a customer complain that I asked for id for their Credit card use. I showed them the back of the card where THEY had written See ID!

When I first moved to NH the DMV lady wouldn’t give me a NH license because she couldn’t read every letter of my signature. I appealed to a higher god -her supervisor – and NOPE -WE GOTTA READ IT. Hence my official sig was a fraud.Ain’t life great.

Always had a separate signature for cheques and a very illegible one for all the crap I had to sign at work.

Doesn’t signing pretty much mean you just took responsibility?
