And now The Donald is saying that the U.S. will pay for his wall, but he’s sure Mexico will reimburse us after it’s built.

A good thing that the “wall” will not be built. The “wall” idea was the dumbest idea that ever was. Does anyone remember how well the “Maginot Line” worked?

Better yet, build a 4×4 room of bricks, drop both Hillary and Trump in, then seal it up.

China built a wall, Turkey is now building a wall, Hadrian built a wall, Israel built a wall, those worked. The Magenot line didn’t wasn’t built to stop the current level of technology. Different reason for failure.

Static Defense [i.e. walls] is such a discredited option that it is hard to believe that any rational being would consider building one. It didn’t work for Jericho, China, France, or East Germany. On the economic side, one 3.5 mile stretch of wall built by Customs and Border Control cost $58 million dollars. The US-Mexico border is just under 2000 miles. You do the math.

    Only one candidate is crazy.

The ugliness of this election season is ENTIRELY caused by only ONE of the candidates.

And most of them get here by coming legally, and just staying when their visa expires. With good reason: they have a job, they’re supporting a family, and it’s fine with their employer.

This reminds of something that someone (I can’t remember who) said near the beginning of the Trump campaign: “Before I support Trump on building a wall, I need to know which side of it he’ll be on.”

One truism is that if you can’t control your borders, you can’t have an immigration policy at all. The other is that the inevitable result of uncontrolled immigration is that the average economic wealth inside the country will eventually be the same as the average economic wealth outside the country, at which point the flow of immigrants will stop on it’s own. These two economic truths are backdrops for the rest of the discussion, so keep them in mind as you hate on each other.

It’s like this idea that you have to stop migrants coming in because there will be a few Islamist terrorists hidden amongst them. Sure there will be, but Islamists have access to oil money so if you stop them coming in the cheap way they’ll just buy a plane ticket. Only the innocent migrants (the great majority) will suffer and now you don’t know where the terrorists are any more. Better to let them hide among the migrants so you know where they are, and then hide plenty of your own spies there to watch them.

More Mexican immigrants are leaving right now than entering.

Trump’s wall will trap them inside America.

As someone who lives along the border, I can tell you many citizens have no problems with Mexicans entering and/or leaving. They are an asset to the communities. Bisbee, AZ, wouldn’t have a fire department if not for illegals coming over to help when needed. The wall concept is about unfounded fear, that’s all.

Don’t need a wall.. just put above-ground solar-powered sensors every 660 ft. apart, and tunneling sensors at all likely locations.

Last warning, Pastis: “general” political humor is always OK. Blatant editorializing like in today’s strip belongs on the editorial page. Do this again and this “customer” stops “buying” your product….and may just suggest to the 11+ million visitors who frequent his websites that they do the same. I never threaten….I just promise.

Well, see, there you have it. If something doesn’t work 100% of the time then you shouldn’t bother. Which is why vaccines are a waste of money. And people shouldn’t lock their doors at night, ‘cause it’s racist.
