This reminds me of one of David Letterman’s guests on his old NBC show in the 80s, who was a “reporter” for one of the more disreputable tabloids. Dave brings up a recent article about a woman who claimed her toaster was possessed; and reporter-boy maintains, with a thoroughly straight face, that he’d gone to this woman’s home to check out her claim and determined that yes, her toaster was possessed. Of course the studio audience was in stitches, though Dave managed to remain mostly respectful of the guy and didn’t outright attack his credibility.
