The Red Baron is safe for another day.
Whatever you do, Mr. Ace, don’t go on in your last mission!! That’s Catch-23!!
General Pershing will not be happy about this!
Snoopy switches from referring in third person to first person in a heartbeat.
It is dawn…
“The first world war came and its cost was laid on the people. The second world war — the third — what will be the cost. And will it repay the people for what they pay?… The little girl saw her first troop parade and asked, ‘What are those?’ ‘Soldiers.’ ‘What are soldiers?’ ‘They are for war. They fight and each tries to kill as many of the other side as he can.’ The girl held still and studied. ‘Do you know … I know something?’ ‘Yes, what is it you know?’ ‘Sometime they’ll give a war and nobody will come.’“The People, Yes” – Carl Sandburg 1936
Snoopy….others did not have the privilege of staying on the ground…they went….and some never came back….
And a salute to all our brave heroes. (Not you, Snoopy.)
Snoopy usually shows more of a positive attitude.
It’s Sunday, Ace, take the day off.
This message on Memorial Day too.
In a coincidence(?), today’s Cleo and Company also has a Red Baron flavor (click for full size):
Don’t be too hard on Snoopy. I suspect every veteran has had similar thoughts at some point during his service. Unfortunately, soldiers just don’t get to say “Forget it.” What Shultz is doing here is playing out a fantasy. It’s called wishful thinking.
War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!
Time to quaffe a few root beers, old boy.
Reminds me of a Monty Python routine.
Colonel: Watkins, are you a pacifist?Private Watkins: No sir, I’m not a pacifist, sir. I’m a coward.Colonel: That’s a very silly line. Sit down.
