I must be a blighter. I always feel better when I see the Ace.
Snoopy has the most adorable smile.
This ‘sounds’ very familiar. Maybe Schulz read from some old WWI history books? Snoop’s always cute though.
it’s so well known, he’s got a song written about it sung by the royal guardsmen (with a reference to the great pumpkin, no less!)
I have the full Red Baron Trilogy. (Snoopy Vs the Red Baron, Return of the Red Baron, and Snoopy’s Christmas). By the way, Also this might interest you
I was a Marine in Vietnam. It was really great to see choppers. They sometimes brought supplies, and sometimes they delivered some nice gifts for Charlie. But the best was when they took me out of the boonies for a few days.
I never passed up the opportunity to “buzz” the troops. It was a morale builder for them.
Just one question: were you even alive then? I want to know how history is taught in schools nowadays. BTW: I agree with you on LBJ.
Not so, Night-Gaunt.This is from ‘history learning site’A War Inherited
At the center of these events stands President Lyndon B. Johnson, who inherited the White House following the November 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The circumstances of Johnson’s ascendance to the Oval Office left him little choice but to implement several unrealized Kennedy initiatives, particularly in the fields of economic policy and civil rights. But LBJ was equally committed to winning the fight against the Communist insurgency in Vietnam—a fight that Kennedy had joined during his thousand days in office. So the civil war had already started in Vietnam.Kennedy involved us in it.Johnson increased our role in it.
It’s the thought that counts.
I may be a blighter, but I prefer having my feet on the ground.
One other connection to Snoopy and his Sopwith Camel adventures brought us the call-signs for Apollo 10 (CM “Charlie Brown” and LM “Snoopy”).
Can you see me waving, Snoopy?
Look… Right here!
Later, Snoopy (as the Ace) would spend a lot of time over at Marcie’s “small French cafe’”, pounding down the root beers. He also (as himself) would go over to Bill Mauldin’s house every Veteran’s Day to pound down the root beers. Two world wars, two excuses for root beers!
I know I do!
The trailer for the new movie showed that Snoopy will be flying again.
Thanks for your comment.
